Q: Can my daughter play up age groups?
A: All players are to register for the age group they qualify. Following registration, a player can request to play up. The request will be considered if the player numbers work for both the age group they want to move up to and the age group they qualify (ex, the player is 8U age eligible and would be the 10th player at 8U, but there are 13 player registered for 10U). In addition, the players skill level will be considered to determine if they can compete at the older age group.
Q: Can my daughter be on the same team as a friend/car pool buddy?
A: If there is one team in the age group, absolutely! If there is more than one team, the coaches will do everything they can to honor the friend request, but it cannot be guaranteed due to the goal of trying to make the teams as even as possible.
Q: Are there requirements for playing in the End of Season (EOS) tournament?
A: Yes – players must play in 7 of 10 games during the Fall season and 9 or 12 games during the Spring season to be eligible for the EOS tourney. There are no exceptions to the rule.
Q: What can I do to help my daughter prepare for the season or practice?
A: Playing catch is the best thing you can do to develop the skills of throwing and catching. For hitting, you can buy a tee, some balls and a net for your daughter to hit into for practice.
Q: Can my daughter use her bat from Tball or her brother’s baseball bat?
A: No. Players must use a bat approved for play in softball. There are marks on the bat that tell you the bat has been approved by ASA or USA Softball.
Q: Who is the competition? Who do we play?
A: South Park competes in Char-Meck Girls Softball, which consists of other youth associations in South Charlotte. You can learn more about Char-Meck at the league’s website: www.charmecksoftball.org
